Hose pipe to protect exhaust pipes Hi, On one hand I know using some hose pipe to protect the cans can be done, but on the other hand I have already see some hose pipe burned on the cans because of the heat. Do you have any advice about what kind of hose pipe which could resist to high temperatures I could buy ? Thanks, Tonio. |
:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: i really am warming to this french sense of humour! |
What is funny ? My english or the fact I want to protect my cans ? |
Tonio, I think you are talking about some sort of exhaust wrap, Possibly foil/asbestos type cloth. I don't think i have seen this sort of thing on modern race bikes. Carbon is reasonably poor at holding heat hence it gets used for shields on bikes. Its also Ok for exhaust cans. carbon cans don't resist crashes as well as metal versions though. if you really want to got for the best solution it is possibly to have pipes internally coated with some sort of ceramic coating to keep the heat inside the pipe and reduce transmission to the metal pipe itself. It will be expensive though. I can't see heat transmission being a big problem on a Due bike, unless you have fitted some exhaust bits that are routed a different way to standard. Ray. |
Are you trying to protect your cans in case of a crash? If it's heat related, you presumably would be trying to protect your clothing or bodywork from the cans/pipework, not protecting your cans.:puzzled: |
I mean something like this... http://www.esprit-racing.com/2/0106/35.jpg http://www.esprit-racing.com/4/img/trled.jpg But I am sorry to seem so ridiculous. I promise next year I'll be rich and I'll buy some new parts as soon as I break one. |

Ah, all is clear now! You need to speak to Dibble. It's been reported that he is the expert in all things related to donuts. Seriously, I've got no idea where you get that sort of thing from. Never even seen it before. |

I see this on Ducati D2 very often during track days or races organized by the Ducati Club de France. Also there was one still fitted on the 620 Sport I bought for the DD series, and the bike was used to take part in the "Coupe Ducati" in France... So I guess French people take better care of their Ducati than English people do :D [Edité le 21-3-2005 par Tonio600] [Edité le 21-3-2005 par Tonio600] |
How 'bout this http://www.rg-racing.com/can-covers/...rotectors.html Bit more expensive than hosepipe but more likely to do the job. Darren |
