to chip or not to chip? Is a (performance)chip required when fitting 45mm termis,no other mods. The instructions with the cans say fit a chip, but read a few threads where problems have occured after doing so,stalling etc.Any advice appreciated. |
Which bike is it for ? I've got 45mm termis on my 748 and was told there was no need to chip, although fitting one would improve the fueling a bit. |
Let me put it this way: it won't run any worse without a performance chip. |
A 748 |
Power commander made biggest difference to my 996S after being Termi'd |
In reverse order of (personal) preference No Chip - £0.00 DP or Similar pre-programmed chip £30 upwards Power Commander £350ish plus setup (no independant maps for front / rear cylinders) FIM Ultimap Chip £150ish plus setup Some ECU's (5.9M 2001 onwards) don't allow you to change the chip for a FIM one, so your stuck with a power commander. FIM's are massively configurable (more so than the PC) but can also be simply dropped in place, you just don't get the full benfit of it that way. |
Eric, I have an FIM Chip (UM091) for sale - suitable for 748 BP. R X |
