Ah, welcome to the pleasures of Ducati ownership!

On a more serious note, I'm sure someone will be along soon to offer a diagnosis.

Sound like a lose or dirty connection

Fuel sender in tank probably faulty

neutral switch faulty:o::

Get a muti meter on each one, neutral SW should be open cct in any gear, short cct in neutral.

Sender is a bit more difficult to test as its less easy to go; now it's full, now it's empty, but the circuit works on the same principal.

If the neutral switch is OK, it's not too difficult to change out the warning light bulbs; just need to remove the nose-cone (side-panels and mirrors have to come off first, but it's only a ten-minute job).

Only thing you may find is that the rubber bulb-holders can be a bit of a pig to get out; I evenrtually "persuaded" mine with a round-tipped knife blade.
The Haynes manual (well worth buying if you haven't already got one) says

"ease the relevant bulb-holder out of position..."

Ho, ho, ho!:lol:

A spray of the connection with a electrical contact cleaner, and a smaear of vaseline or some such on the bulb-holder will make it easier next time.

Also, diving into a 916 with a multimeter, a spanner, a snippet of advice off the internet, and no manual, is a very risky business. So I recommend:

Does'nt the rear break pipe wear the conections/wires away on the neutral switch.
