How much for 998R?? Really want a 998R, I know the 998s makes more sense if you're taking it on the track, but I want the R so what should I be paying?? I went to see one in DSL on Sunday mint/fsh/low miles/std £13.5k & said he won't let it go for less than £13k Given it's getting on for 3yrs old, cost 17k new, 4k depreciation doesn't sound a lot to me?? JHP offered me one for 11k late last year but had mag wheels which I don't want as I haven't got a trailer Advice please?????? |
Not that many about Chef so looks like a sellers market. That one at JHP sounded like a bargain, you could have sold the mags easily and replaced them at a profit. It's always worth whatever someone will pay for it but IMHO DLS have the price about right. [Edited on 31-3-2005 by Henners] |
Why would you want to put magnesium wheels on your trailer:sing: |
Theres one on the Autotrader website thats been on for ages for £13k I think its at protwins? |
over priced |
How overpriced? Best guesses accepted! |
I think a good one will always be high as its the last top model from the old shape bikes. Wish I had one! |
You could always look at it this way chef. My 996R is now 2.1/2 years old. Would you pay £13,500 for it. At a guess I would bargan at £12,000- £12,500. [Edited on 6-4-2005 by Jon] |
The one at pro twins is particularly nice example - but then they all are aren't they. It's difficult to gauge the real value of the top of the line models and the R's in particular. Many people want them. Some people even collect them. In years to come they will still be worth very good money. Bit like an RC30 - they still fetch very good prices. 11K sounds very good, particularly for a JHP bike. Why didn't you choose this bike? Was it an S rather than an R? And you do want the mag wheels. Just like you do want the carbon fibre panels and the radial monobloc brembos and the ohlins all round and 139HP :D |

Mag wheels can be used on the road, its probably not recommended as they would be more likely to be damged if you hit a pot-hole, but many people here (including me) have used magnesium wheels on the road without any probs. As was previously mentioned, the mags shouldn't stop you from buying the bike, you could always sell them on and replace with originals at a profit. Tim |
