B****r..outbid again..!

Im sure youve all seen this but here we go anyway..very nice !

Wonder if the winning bidder thinks that this will slot straight on there road 888? (im told the generator cover casting is smaller on this corsa cover than the road 888's and the generator wont fit :o)

Nat, not sure you would like the finish when you see it in the flesh. I got hold of a clutch housing, didn't like the dull lack lustre look. So its getting a face lift with some cold paint.:)

Would suit my 955 Corse engine and match the one on the clutch side. But as I may be doing a deal tomorrow and taking a 955 SP3 engine in part Ex I didn't bother bidding, that and the fact the budget isn't big enough for Desmo Due, finishing the 998 Hybrid and Brands GP trackday so something needs to go.

Sadly Nat it can't be said that another casing will be along before to long.

Apart from weight, what exactly would be the advantages of a mag cover.I can see the disadvantages(having had mag wheels on the 853).?

sparkin 02-Apr-2005 01:33

My cases aren`t in the best condition so I`ve considered mag casings as a cosmetic upgrade, what are the pros and cons of mag casings?
I`ve hard the word porous used a lot:puzzled:

Wouldn't mind converting to the clutch side, but I can't see the point of putting a mag cover on the water pump for a road bike. Corrosion city, here we come. Race parts, hmm, don't ya love em.....

Sounds well nice Kev - where do you get all the time thats what I want to know ??!!

!! Only benefit is weight really jasper. And they are a BITCH to keep clean (after a while they get really scruffy and stained because there porous as Graham says..)

Still look well trick when there new though !!! Annoying thing is I missed the boat as these were on that 888 factory clearance list Ive been talking about..:mad:

Cheers
Nat

yes, it will drop straight on any 851 or 888, but what you don't know is that the magnesium won't last more than 18--20 months before it self destructs inside due to horrific corrosion that results from any contact with water.

Remember........corsa bits are designed for the short term track life........not street life.

Reguarding the issue of corrosion,I had similar concerns and solved the problem with a waterless coolant from Evans http://www.evanscooling.com/main27.htm It works just fine.
