More Doom & Gloom

Yes you guessed it.... On are way to what would have been a great day's racing at thruxton... Dave's ( Tart 2) 999 broke down :mad: Manage to get the thing going again but its running like a pile of poo, Amber light on and no heat from front pipe.... Looks like this could be yet another coil breakdown :mad: :mad::mad: When are Ducati going to sort all these problems out

Lily 10-Apr-2005 21:57

:(

Bad luck mister

Get it in and get it sorted quickly. Fred's bike is done and seems to be running well now, just a shame it is not done as an automatic recall i guess.

nathanhu 10-Apr-2005 21:57

did you try disconecting and re-attaching the coil plug a few times to clean the contacts

Dibble 10-Apr-2005 22:02

oh mate .. what is it with these things ..... sorry to hear a decent sunday has been ruined ...

JPM 10-Apr-2005 22:19

Sounds so similar, You can see whole new cables etc on mine now, and it's been running fine for 15 miles so far :)

Get the thing booked in ASAP before the rush starts!

nathanhu 10-Apr-2005 22:21

all the dealers i know are stripping these old parts off and replacing with the new version when ever they see them.
its got more to do with customer relations than anything else, the 999 has had enough bad press
i dont know how these things are delt with in the uk

Bikes just over 2 years old so no warranty  So do i order 1 new coil.. or 2 of the 2005 coils :puzzled: No problem fitting these myself... Anyone know who might have them in stock... and what sort of price.. Will give JHP a ring today :(

Dave I would still lean on Ducati to send you the parts for free. It's a known issue so they shouldn't be turning you away.

JPM 11-Apr-2005 10:23

As Tony says I would think this would still be a warranty issue even if you're out of warranty, there are enough cases just on this board which should be able to justify this.

All depends on how Ducati play it and how soon you want your bike I guess

dave w 11-Apr-2005 10:36

Dave just wants to get the bike back on the road... Are local Ducati dealer is about as much use as a chocolate teapot !! Just got off the phone to martin JHP £98 each + the vat..... None in stock 7/8 days... PANTS... JPM you don't buy any chance have your over good coil for sale do you ?? Or are you keeping it for a spare ? Any one got a spare i can blag for a week :o
