My nights just been ruined .. Just sold some cans to a guy..turns out hes a heating engineer and as he was working in the same block of flats for a while he became aware of a 916 strada under a tarpaulin..M reg, 2500 miles, covered in cobwebs and dirt. Anyway, he got hold of the owner via the landlords - a one owner genuine 2500 miles from new (although not turned a wheel for 5 years)...and buys the bugger for £1800... :o:o I feel ill...!! Wouldnt you just love an opportunity like that to fettle and restore !!!? Incidentally as hes completely new to dukes, hes asked me for advice on running it...ive obviously told him to not even think about trying to start it until hes had a MAJOR service (ive pointed him in the direction of AJ Racing as hes in Reading).but what dya reckon that would need doing to it ? Im thinking of all sorts from bearings and tyres to crank seals...told him not to expect much change from a grand to get it running. Sent him the link to the DSC so hoepfully hell be along to join us shortly..(hes also got a restored RG500 so would appear to have good taste!!). Cheers Nat |
change oil and filter brake fluid strip and clean brakes and clutch fuel filter renew timing belts a good grease at all the linkages that should do it oh possably a new chain, and i guess the tyres should be looked at |

As long as the "mechanic" who butchered our Monster doesnt get anywhere near it then it should be fine. |
