What size hole do i need to drill to tap in a M10 thread?

If it's for the DD bike I suggest you ride it flat out into the side of a skip then cover it in petrol and set fire to the bugger!! Nothing left to tap, nothing left to drill.....

If you look in The Big Book of Predictable Replies you find exactly what was said in the first three replies...... sorry... :(

Will go and check now.....

Intraweb say 8.5mm for a standard thread and 8.8mm for a fine thread.....

Thanks AK, I just found it in a engineering forum... says between 8.5 and 8.8mm depending on material.

Tapping into alluminium so I think a wider thread would be needed so I'll start with 8.5

Give Al a brownie point anyway.
