Removing mirrors & Tyre Pressures !

No, they are not directly related, unless of course you are thinking of attending a track day...

On the basis that a question is only stupid if you know the answers...here is a stupid question for you. I have looked at the owners manual and read how to remove the mirrors. Remove the screw and "release the pins from the headlight mounting bracket". Ok...removed the screw, but how do you release the pins? I tried gentle pressure, tried jiggling a flat headed screw driver but nothing seems to shift them. There is obviously a technique, but this is not in described in the manual. Before I break or crack something could someone please share the secret. It is a '05 model if that makes any difference.

The other question was on tyre pressures. On the Pilot Powers...what are the recommended road and track pressures. I am running about 31 front and 36 rear at the minute which seems fine but logic tells me is low compared to equilivant jap bikes at least. On the track I used to run about 31 front and back..but that was on an Aprilia...is the Duke much different?

pull harder on the mirror as the pins are tight, especially the first time. I find that it helps to 'rock' the mirror slightly while pulling

The mirrors are held by just the one screw. You then need to pull HARD and towards the back slightly. Try and brace yourself so they don't come flying out and you fall back and damage something though. They realy do kinda pop out like that. Putting them back on, it helps to remeber that you pulled towards the back to remove because no ammount of pushing straight in will make them go. A bit of forward directional force and they will slot in nicely.

As you say .... easy when you know how. Thanks to JPM for telling me recently .... :)

Steve at Wraysbury put new Powers on my 749S last week and set the pressures at 32F and 36R.,

Thanks for the info....will have another go at getting the mirrors off !

What about track day tyre pressures...the usual 31 ish front and back?

i run 29/31 for track on supercorsa's. as the others say give the mirror a good wiggle and be careful when feeding the wire through the holes.
