Silly question on 999 front light..

..which is always turn on..
Is tape OK for track days or is going to melt with consequential mess on the nose fairing??
It is better to disconnect the electric connection??
Thanks

It's recessed into the fairing, so can you not just tape over the hole? which would be cooled by the airflow

You can pull one of the fuses, much easier than remove the connector

The (one and only) track day I have been on with No Limits there were UJM's with all their lights on and uncovered. How strict are other companies?

It was quite disconcerting being behind on of them and his brake light came on ... almost expected him to indicate!

Yep,thats the way to go.
If you just tape over the lens it could get hot and melt.

I forgot to mention, its the 15A fuse in the fusebox.

For track days its easy to remove the whole rear light assembly. All you need is a 4mm allen key to remove the three bolts.(One above the rear light and two underneath.)
Once the light unit has been released you can simply just unplug the wiring. Its also a good idea to wrap a bit of insulation tape around the connector to stop anything getting in there, especially if its wet!
Takes about five minutes to do.

On my last couple of track days last year, I was told that new guidelines are that taping over lights is not a requirement - as you can see by the avatar!
