Race Products fairing - belly pan update As many of you will know. I was responsible for butchering a Race Products belly pan to make it fit on my 749S. Those nice chaps at RP sent me another one so I could try again, and this time I have made it fit with only a few minor mods. I have still had to cut a slot in the bottom for the exhaust, but I can see that the fibreglass has "slumped" along the bottom and hardered like that so if it was in the intended shape it would have been OK. I cut a slot for the sidestand this time instead of hacking a section away, having measured the dimensions of the original one relative to the floor and the rear axle. It is still a bit tight around the oil cooler, where the Dzus fastener rivot touches, but it is possible to get it all together. [Edited on 6-5-2005 by HW] |

I shall be there. I had the old belly pan that I used at Cadwell on Good Friday anyway. The coil seems to be working now but I will check that out this evening and tomorrow. That's the crux with just about every track body work kit. They ALL need "adjusting", some more than others. The only one I found fit straight out-of-the-box is the Ducati's Aviofibre stuff, but that cost slightly more. Good stuff, though. You might want to "borrow" a spare coil for Monday, just in case. |

I have a paintjob lined up for the white track fairing soon. There is a local guy who inports/restores Ducati racing singles (150cc/175cc), and also happens to be a vehicle body sprayer as a trade. Might be worth while checking out Ian at QB carbon. As well as all the carbon work they do glass fibre bodywork as well. They can supply the seats, fairings and belly pans etc as per the items you have but with a red gell coat that buffs up quite nice ... a few decals and they look great. Ah right. Probably a bit late for me on that. I've got bodywork that fits the bike now so I couldn't justify changing it .. not this year anyway. :) Mind you ... one of the side air deflectors came adrift today at Cadwell, the threaded boss came out of the fibreglass. It was flapping around at the top .. saw it out the corner of my eye just as the marshalls started waving and pointing at me. Ain't gaffer tape amazing? :eureka: |
