Mystery wires
 

Had problems starting my 748 and checked the usual things, relay, plugs etc. I noticed a shorting noise towards the rear of the engine as the motor turned over, and fiddling about with the various cables, one came away from its connection. It has 2 wires and was connected to the r/h rear of the crankcase, very difficult to get to due to exhaust and shock. I assume it's some kind of sensor but a cursory look at Haynes shed no light. Any ideas?
