In-Car GPS Systems

As I seem to be doing a lot more driving now and getting fedup trying to juggle maps and multimap whilst driving, I'm considering getting one of these in-car systems like Tom Tom or Navman. Anyone got any advice or experience with these types of products?

I use a Garmin 2610, weather prof so swaps to the bike in 2 minutes. Brilliant.

We've got an HP Ipaq with TomTom navigator 3, with a bluetooth GPS receiver.

Very impressed with it too. I especially like being able to sync with my PC, use it for e-mail etc.. and being able to download speed camera locations and have it warn me if I'm going to pass one.

Not sure about being able to put it on the bike though.

HTH

Cheers!

I'm just looking at buying a system myself. I've read and heard very good things about Tom Tom Go 300, approx £340 on the net.

The latest version has the speed camera locations in it's memory and can give warnings as you approach the sites. The software can be updated with new points of interest and speed camera locations etc.

TomTom is really the only sensible option IMO :)
Either go the PDA route or if you just want the standalone unit then TomTomGo is great.

Just for info, they're also making a TomTom Rider unit which is designed for bikes and fully waterproof, etc.

Cheers guys like the sound of the HP route and will go an nose around PC World. Like the idea of being able to do more than just directions.

You can do it on my phone as well. Chris, if you have a phone like the Orange SPV C500. You get the bluetooth GPS receiver and the Tom Tom software and Roberts your mothers brother.

:D
