Clutch Basket? Anyone got any experience of replacement clutch baskets? I have the standard 748r slipper in at the moment with the alloy plates, but the basket is looking trashed again after 6000 miles. |
Do a search. It's been well covered. Not hard to do, but need a clutch drum holding tool. |
It might look trashed but if it still works OK why change it? I have lost count of how many times I have been told the clutch needs replacing on the two Ducatis I have owned. Never changed one yet, one bike did 14k the other 9k. Sure the basket might be well worn but all that means is that it makes a bit more noise and is a bit grabby in operation. It's your choice. Ray. My clutch was knackered at its first 6000 mile service. Well, the plates were a little curled up at the edges and the basket had some serious grooves. But it never grabbed or lurched and was as smooth as a smooth thing. Changed it any way under recomendation... Delooney |
You can usually file the basket tooth sides to smooooth it back out and stop it grabbing. Not to much mind. :o |
Cheers, I've cleaned up the basket and the grabbing has gone, that's saved a few quid!! |
I've done over 18k on the original basket, second plate set went in at 11k. plates getting a bit worn now and basket needs another filing, but may replace this time. Have been told that the inner drum also wears behind the main nut and washer??? Contemplating a slipper also. Doogalman |
that guy on ebay sells slippers and cheap sets off plates . |
