Ducati 750ss running problem

hi i have recently brought a ducati 750ss(my first duke)
i have had to get it restricted because of my A2 licence but today i had had a problem, riding in the rain to my uncles(from bridgwater to taunton) and its coughed and spluttered at the lay by near the caravan place and the bike wouldn't rev over 5k it was like it was hitting the rev limit and dropping back to 0 again,so i carried on thinking it was just the restrictor kit kicking in,after i had been at my uncles for two hours on the way back it wouldn't rev over 3k before dropping back to 0
Any help on what the problem is?

which model 750, carb'd or injected
But sounds like fuel starvation
I'd check for a kinked or trapped fuel line first

Could be water ingress into the sparkplug holes. Had the same syptoms on my 999 when I was caught out in heavy rain. Blasted both out with an air hose.

hi it is a 2002 fuel injected
and cheers chris i will try that in the morning

i have been riding it for a week and today was the first time it has ever done it and nothing has been touched in the bike so i don't think a pipe would of been kinked but will have a look just incase

If the weather continues to be its normal self, give the spark plug area a little squirt of water repellent, this may help.

STILL happening but now in the dry

going to change the plugs as it might be a plug breaking down when it gets hot, apart from that i don't have a clue what it could be?

Fault finding info for you, hope it works out, (Carby SS, I'm afraid):

Needs MS Word or a reader to work

Blocked fuel filter. The one thing people seem not to change because it's a bit of a pain to do being inside the tank. :)
