Stupid Flip Up Sidestand for \'97 750ss

Anyone know how to change the stupid flip up sidestand to something more sensible?
Just bought my 750SS as a 1st Bike after being born again, and the stand really annoys me

cheers

Welcome to the board diveguide

Those stands are useless aren't they ? My superlight and sps have got proper 'stay down' ones but my newly acquired 888 has a flip up jobby which I hate. Apart from anything else, how are you supposed to get the damn thing off a paddock stand without dropping it ?

When someone (who knows what they're talking about) posts a reply, I think I'll get mine sorted too.

Any pics of the 750 ?

Three choices.
1. Buy a new stand bolt from Brancato Engineering which doesn't have the projection that makes the stand flip back up.
2. Cut the projection off.
3. Make a new link which connects the top of the spring to it's post with a crank in it to clear the projection on the bolt.

I did No.3
I also wired a small electrical buzzer in parallel with the "Stand Down" warning light to let me know if I'd left it down. I put a "service" switch in series with the buzzer so I could switch it off if I was carrying out work on the bike which required the ignition on.
So there you are.

I bought a little plate from Chris Clarkes for my 750ss which stopped it flipping up, cost me all of £7.
Catch is, they don't exist anymore!
I'm sure Baines or JHP or someone like that must do an anti flip plate?

Paul James, our own PR guru, makes stainless plate that solves the problem a treat. Good quality and they work!!

"fast by ferraci" sells a bolt in screw that eliminates the spring in the kickstand.

Tony and Donna from Brancatto Engineering will hopefully make it down to Castle Combe on Saturday, maybe they should bring a few bits with them, based on tonights posts they could do with carrying sidestand bolts and fuel filters.

Thanks for the welcome and the replies, I reckon number 1 or 3 for me.
A picture of my gorgeous yellow baby will be forthcoming after she's back from her service
