Aaaaarrr Avatar!!!

Help,
is there a definitive guide to setting up the avatar. Done search, used tiny-host, re-searched again.
Tried and tried and still no joy.

Just what is the fail-proof way of setting it up.

Show me what you are putting in the avatar field in your profile.

And put the forward slash in your signature block - it's driving me batty!

The URL you are using is not a direct link to the picture - but rather a link to the page hosting the picture. You need to reference the picture directly (URL will end in the picture file extension such as .jpg) or upload it yourself.

If you choose to upload it the size would need to be reduced.

So, how where and what is the url ending with jpg. I am sorry but i am not very computer techie, i thought i was uploading it by using a hoster. Reduce it ! how?

When you have found a picture (avatar) you want to use, right click your mouse over it and select 'save picture as' then enter a name and destination for the 'picture',destination is where you store it on your pc.
Then when you enter DSC site,go to the 'control panel' then 'edit profile' then scroll down to AVATAR URL and click on browse, this will allow you to search the destination(folder) for the picture. Then 'open' the picture and the box next to the 'browse' button will have an address in it.Then just click 'edit profile' to upload your avatar

Hi sorry, work is getting in the way of my social life ....

It's how it's displayed by the people you are hosting it with withthe jpg thing. I don't use a hosting company like that myself but maybe there is an option that you can choose when uploading? I don't know.

If you want to upload your avatar you can e-mail me the photo and I can resize it and send it back. Then you can use it as your avatar.

The forward slash thing was for your signature block and the displaying of the photo using the [img] tags you need to use it to close it off but it's a moot point seeing as it's not displayed as a picture.

It probably makes no sense to you at all. If you want me to resize it send the picture to webteam@ducatisportingclub.com and I'll do it for you.

Cheers,

TP

OK mate, I've re4sized and hosted the new pic for you. Just pop the following line of text into your avatar box:
