Techie - IMG to ISO?

Here's one for the geeks amongst us :D

I've got a .img file which I want to burn to DVD but Nero doesn't want to know as it's not an ISO, does anyone know what app can either be used (and free) to convert from.img to .iso or am I missing something blatantly obvious:puzzled:

Try Google or Altravista under image convertors. The last time I looked for my Nero there were quite a few selections 4D

Definitely does it

Magic ISO - http://www.magiciso.com/

Possibly does it

Alcohol 120 - www.Alcohol-soft.com ( Bionicle's their MD)

Both of these I can recommend as top bit's of software ( use them both daily)

Downloaded magiciso, problem is unless you pay you can only convert about 700MB images, will have to have a look for a torrent file I guess..

....me bad!

you only need a .reg file to unlock it......

Just rename the image to.ISO

Go to the folder you have the IMG file stored in ...

click on Tools > Folder Options > View, and uncheck the box saying 'Hide extensions for known file types'

In the folder again, it will now display the name of the image file + the .IMG extension, now you can change this to an ISO extension by just writing over the img extension ...

Alternativly

A .img file can easily be burned to a dvd directly using DVDDECRYPTER

You can get dvddecrypter here http://www.afterdawn.com/software/vi..._decrypter.cfm

If you want to check out the .img file BEFORE you burn it...to make sure it works--- simply use Daemontools or Alcohol to mount the .img file onto a virtual drive

BTW, in order to load the .img file onto your virtual drive (either daemontools or Alcohol) you need to choose "all files' as the file type when browsing for the file, otherwise only the .iso, .cue, etc files will show.

When you "show all file types" then your .img file will show up.

I have never had a problem burning an .img file with dvddecrypter. Once it is installed you just click directly on the .img file and dvddecrypter will open and allow you to burn it.
