Dry cluthes with open covers
 

I have a dp plate and clutch on my s4r, im trying not to ride it in the rain but sometimes gets rained on for hours in when left in work.

The springs have gone rusty which i knew would happen, soon to be remidied with s/steel springs.

My question is does the clutch need to be cleaned/greased more as its out in the rain a bit? as on the side stand it tips to the left can water run in anywhere?

unless its a slipper clutch then there is not any greasing that need to be done.
shouldn't damage anything by getting wet, it will just make it rusty like you said

Unless you're talking about the ramps on a slipper clutch, grease should be nowhere near it.
As for cleaning, you'll find that the plates themselves will be cleaner in an open cover than a standard one as the dust created by the friction material goes elsewhere...like all over your right boot :lol:
Water just falls out of the bottom of the casing- it's all sealed up behind the clutch so nothing to worry about there.

I meant like greasing the spring posts as they seem to squaek a bit now?

or buy a stainless set with screws for £25 from http://www.spareshack.com/

And powdercoat your Pplate as well, maybe even cut out the clutch cover to let out even more of the wonderful cacophony of sound that is a dry clutch. Ill use my 851 as an example
