stupid? question

Can anyone tell me why some (but not all) 888's have a round hole (about 1" diameter) in the right hand side rear panel (just below and behind the seat)? Seems to serve no purpose whatsoever!

To allow adjustment of the idle mixture pot on the ecu.

Ah...That makes sense. Seems a bit OTT though as its a 2-screw job to take that panel off and the mixture change is an infrequent job (probably done during a service with all the panels off in anycase).

Just a shame they couldn't have designed the bike so you didn't have to take the fairing off to top the oil up and then balance the blasted thing with one hand (to get a correct level) while adding the oil with the other (as I did last night).

Its clear that Ducati ownership will be the interesting experience I expected it to be!
