20mm spindle front wheel
 

Anyone know what the bearings are that go in said front wheel?

Need to know the difference between them and 25mm ones so I can make a spacer.

I can't see what your trouble is Scott!! You just need to measure across the two bearing abutments in the wheel. The easiest way to do that is leave one bearing in place, then measure from abutment to bearing.

You will want a 21mm bore in the spacer and O/D, 0.5mm smaller than the bearing inner race O/D.

Give me a bell if I have got it wrong.

I'm changing my spare front wheel from a 20mm to a 25mm spindle ( to match my current one ), I've found out the old 20mm bearings are 6204, 47mm x 20mm x 14mm and the new 25mm ones are 6005, 47mm x 25mm x 12mm. Therefore I have to space out the new bearings by 2mm to make the distance between the outer faces the same. This also means I have to make a new spacing shaft for between the 2 inner faces which is 4mm longer than the old one.

I'm sure Phil will correct me if I'm wrong but I would have thought the inner spacer length will be the same as original as the bearings shoulds butt up against a small shoulder which won't have changed.

I think badger should build his own bike, and Scott stick to just riding it.

He'd prob do a better job of riding too!

Andy, you're right as long as my new wheel is the same as the old one, which I've stupidly not confirmed yet. Still need to make/get hold of another spacer though or I have to change bearings and swap the spacer each time I swap wheels.

The bearings have to butt up to the shoulder in the wheel. If I remember correctly the spindle passes through and reacts on one bearing. So you only need a spacer on the outside to centralise your wheel. Which would be your speedo drive plus 2mm.
