Tuning Question? Hello all, Wanted to see if anyone has tried a 45/54 half system on their 998? I have a 45/50 half system and am adding the 998R cams + 998R ECU and the 45/54 half system vs. the 45/50 ECU and 45/50 half system/998R cams. |
I would have thought that using a "45" size pipe with 998R cams would have been somewhat restrictive! |
seems like an awful amount of work to go to, when you could probably buy the "better" bike complete for less money?? |
I wonder if he means cans rather than cams? |
I'd spend the money on 50mm headers. You're not going to push enough gas to really need the 54mm bore. The headers are going to start beginning to be the restrictive part of the system. Also, check the valve to piston clearance with the new cams. Could be getting a little close. |
Hi Galfer, I had the R cams and ECU installed recently, to go with my 45/50 half system on my 998. You will not be dissappointed. (Get the 4 pad brakes next - ssssssstoPPP!) Spinoli |
Thanks for posting your thoughts guys. I have the 998R cams in the garage and wanted to see if anyone had done the 45/54mm pipe on the 998? Short of someone having done that I guess the answer can be obtained via a Dyno test with each pipe. I had a 45/50 half system on the bike when I bought it and got a smoking deal from Martin Brickwoods shop in Canada for the Sil Moto 45/54 half system - so it won't be that expensive to test. |
