Respro / Foggy mask jobbies.......what\'s the story?

Having broken the visor mechanism on my Arai, I used the Suomy lid for the race - which isn't as well ventilated as the Aria.

So in the heat of battle and being such a sweaty b'stard means that I steam the visor up on the Suomy all too easily... so what's the resolution?

I do have one of those Respro mask things but struggle to get this to sit correctly - so what do you others use - if at all?

Are you using masks that are designed specifically for the lids that you are using - or are you using standard items and I'm just weird? The Respro mask does have tabs that should be tucked in somewhere, but the Suomy has no space for these?

I remember in the old paintball days using washingup liquid on the inside of the googles to prevent steaming up, but this doesn't seem to work either.

I had to have the visor partially open for most of the race yesterday, so c'mon, tell me what's going on with this mask milarkey?

You could try some BOB HEATH visor anti fog spray!
It's all I have ever used.

i use a foggy mask in my shoei and its great. fits well and does exactly what it says on the packet.

never needed one on my arai but i prefer the shoei paints scheme, its fits really well and is as good if not better in protection according to recent tests.

I have duct tape put over my nose just under my eyes and to the front of the helmet - No steaming up whatsoever :) Even have to do it with a mask in place too.

I had fogging issues before I got my respro mask and now I don't have any problems at all.

I think that it's not fitted it correctly?

You're not trying hard enough :P

I use a fog shield, but it still gets steamed up when I breathe heavily.

I've used masks, and tape, but the perspiration from your face will still fog the visor up.

Best to use a fog shield and maybe a mask to deflect your breath too?

I drilled my visor.

But it doesn't work. So now even my visor looks ridiculous. And I still can't see the track properly. I may try Lin's tip, it stays in my budget :D

You just have to make sure you stick it to your skin under your eyes then it don't steam up.
I never had a prob on the Arai but I do with the Shoei and I can't quite get the mask to fit right which is why it probably doesn't do the job.
The only thing I found was it were a tad painful pulling it off after the 30 min race :o

Put a couple of spounges in your lid to soak up the sweat:P

Dibble 27-Jun-2005 19:30

Rattler, one of these will help train you to breathe through your nose rather than your mouth thus reducing the risk of fogging ......
