carbon cans discolouring the rhs can on my bike is now a nice burnt brown colour after only 10k miles. The lhs can has not discoloured at all. None of the other carbon cans I've had have ever done this, including the DP ones on my 996. Is this likely to be considered a defect ? Do I have any comeback for getting this replaced ? Just thinking that while I'm having the suspension sorted out I might as well hit them with this problem too. :) Cheers, John. |
Not unless it's under warranty, sounds like the packing has gone awol. |
Get this sorted ASAP. The packing has gone and the carbon is takign the heat. This happened to me on the 996 but I didn't notice it. Half way down the back straight at Nogaro I blew a hole in the exhaust and shot carbon everywhere :D I then had to repair it with Redbull cans, gum gum exhuast tape and some jubilee clips. Cook for 20 minutes over a BBQ and serve  Anyhow, back to the point being make sure you don't leave it too long or you'll end up with a hole like I did :o |
The cans are almost exactly one year old now. I did tell them about this last september when it first started to colour up though, but I bet they've conveniently forgotten. No doubt I'll find out next week when I take it in (P&H - what are they like for dealing with warranty claims ? I spoke with Julia on the phone). |
