Adjusting rear ride height

I've looked at the other posts regarding the rear ride height. I would like to raise the rear on my 748, firstly can it be done on a paddock stand, secondly what size are the lock nuts and thirdly how do you actually adjust it.

I'm guessing that you loosen each nut nearest the rose joint and twist the rod itself but which way?

Any help much appreciated.

Unless your really careful, i would take the tie rod off to undo the locknuts. To do this you will need to support the rear end by hanging it from the roof. You could use a tie down strap if you have one just to take the weight off the rear end. Dont forget one of the threads if a left hand thread. ...and, measure the length of the rod before you go adjusting!. Once you have the nuts undone successfully, lubricate them well with copperslip etc. then only adjust it a turn at a time, if that.

Alternatively buy a ride height tool from Harv748, youll know exactly where you stand then.

One end of the ride height adjuster is reverse threaded, it is the end with the "cut marks" in.

Simply loosen the lock nuts at either end and then adjust.

make sure that you take a measurement from the axle nut to a point above so that you can gauge how much you have altered the height by.

I have a ride height tool and as andyB said there are some for sale on here.

Get a ride height tool before you start and then you have a fixed point of reference for any changes.

Sadly I cannot remember the spanners sizes but 17mm & 19mm rings a bell.

17mm for the locknuts

19mm for the actual rod (made of chocolate though)

Seizes really easily, I took mine out the first time using an abba stand.

I supported the rear using axle stands as in pic, this way you can fit a ride height tool.A piece of masking tape with pencil mark on end can will give a datum point, measure from top of axle nut to datum is as good. From experience Ive found that 99% of the info given on various sites regarding suspension set up is contradictory and some just rubbish,if you just want to increase the ride height fine, but anything more,I reckon consult an EXPERT.

Cheers fellas, all I want to do is increase the rear ride height a millimeter at a time until I can feel it turn in quicker as I don't fancy changing the front as I believe that is all or nothing
