should i worry ? my 916 has never done this before in fact its never done anything naughty, ooops sods law, i was giving it big licks 100/120 for about 6/7 miles, late officer sorry!, stopped and while the bike ticked over [a few seconds] the oil light flickered stopped engine toot sweet, check oil...spot on the mark. start couple of flickers off again ???? let cool down check for loose wire [a few hours] then start again.. everything aok ????? rode 25 miles no flickering ....spurious electrical fault perhaps??? never done this before...any ideas peeps? :puzzled: |
The oil pressure switch itself is a weak point on these bikes. Only about £10 or so i think. |
Sounds exactly like an oil pressure switch problem to me. I had 13 of these little devils go on my 748, and it went something like this: - 1) Starts flickering at tickover 2) Stays on all the time 3) Pumps oil out of the top of the switch There's normally a few miles pause between each stage - except when it did all 3 in one go at Donington, sprayed oil of the back tyre and I became intimately acquainted with the gravel trap at Redgate... Pop a new switch in, and if it still does it seek urgent dealer advice. Cheers Giles [Edited on 11-7-2005 by Clippy] |
