Avia Mirrors- Good Source???

Hi Guys and Gals,

I'm a new member from the States, and recently stumbled on this forum- it's terrific. Some great information floating around here. I own a 2000 748 and am looking to buy a set of Avia carbon fiber mirrors. There is only one retailer of them in the U.S that I know of (Motowheels) and their prices are high (165 GBP).

Does anyone know where they can be bought for a good deal?

Many thanks,

Ross

Ross, hello and welcome, never heard of those mirrors to be honest, are they exact copies of the standard mirrors or a.n.other carbon mirror that will fit the 748-998 series of bikes?

Problem with the UK is prices are always high, and the £ to $ exchange rate works in our favour when we buy from you guys, not really vice versa.

Someone like Nelly, JHP, Casoli (pains me to say that) etc might be a good place to start.

Anyway's I'll have a red bull and vodka seeing as you're at the bar :D

Ross,

If you're after carbon mirrors which are exactly the same as the stock mirrors then they're actually manufactured on your side of the pond.

Check these out.

Sorry, I've got no idea how much they cost but it's probably going to be cheaper than sourcing something from Europe or the UK with the exchange rate as it is.

I've seen a pair of these in the flesh and they are really nice bits of kit.

Hope that helps,

Cheers, Neil.

P.S. Welcome aboard!!!

P.P.S. If you simply must have the Avia mirrors, here's a link to their website.

P.P.P.S. The Avia distributer for the UK is Rhencullen

JPM- Thanks for the welcome. The exhange rate does put us at a disadvantage- bet you guys aren't complaining though!;)
Even with the poor exchange rate, I think I can (sadly) find a better deal in Europe for these mirrors. NICE avatar!! Yours?

Neil- Thanks for the links! I couldn't find their site by doing searches. Yes, that's the mirror I'm looking for- not, the stock CF version (though those look really nice) Here is a link to Alex Ortner's 1036CS- http://home.comcast.net/~aortner2647...age/1036cs.htm. He has the Avia mirrors on the bike- this bike is incredible.

A little known fact, Alex is also the designer and prototyper for most (if not all) of the Cycle Cat products.

A man of many talents!

"The 1036CS is probably the world's lightest 996 style street Superbike"

Wouldn't know about that, but damn, it's certainly the ugliest.

Looks the ugliest to me like something from the current Ducati range!

Still if you want ugly try these

Yes indeed, those are truly vile !

Wow, I'm suprised you don't care for the looks of the 1036! I think that is one of the better looking Duc's I've seen. Some of his other creations look like a mess, but I think he did everything right on this bike.
I don't like the looks of the round LED's he installed in his mirrors, but otherwise, I prefer the looks of it over the stockers. They are very well made, and actually allow you to see something other than your elbows!;) Plus, they look smart too.

Believe it or not, it appears that the best deal is to buy them directly though Avia. Wish my italian was better! I'll let you know how it all works out- thanks!

Ross
