Giving the DVLA false info - prosecution? I assume giving the dvla a wrong address is an offence. But how much of an offence? What's the law have to say on the matter I wonder. It's not me that's gone-done something stupid, but without going into great depths here, I wondered if anyone had the gen on this matter. Thanks Tim |
Do you mean moving house, or deliberatly creating an address to avoid prosecution and costs? |
The latter. Tim |
I would guess a fine? It's non-endorsable I guess, so no points on licence? |
i am not an expert, but i would think that it would also be a criminal offence, not just a driving offence. so you would get a criminal record for free |
On a similar topic, what's worse - the penalty for doing 48mph in a 40 limit, or the penalty for not disclosing who was driving (the car) at the time ? |
The latter. Former is a £60 fine and 3 points. Failing to disclose is not a fixed penalty, and it's seen as a more 'serious' motoring offence. |
I was hoping for something major, although I doubt that a criminal record is that likely. A whopping fine of a £1K maybe? Not sure - that's why I asked here. Thanks Tim |
It's gonna get you a criminal prosecution, it's fraudulent and perjury. Depending on what you trying to avoid, if caught they could even sling your ass in clink! However, it is not illegal to give them an address in the States as long as you can be traced there..... |

Hoping for something major :puzzled::puzzled::puzzled: Are you on some sort of vendetta then? |
