clutch dragging Hi, newbie here. I have a '92 750ss. When the engine is running you cannot select neutral. It's fine when the engine is nor running, but it just doesn't go when the engnie is running. Also, sometimes when it is in neutral, the neutral light does not come on? What should the tyre pressures be? Any help appriciated.:) Thanks. |
Hi mate and welcome. It's not uncommon for neutral to be hard to select on pretty much any bike, try to select just before the bike comes to a halt. don't think the tyre pressures will make any difference to gear selection though:lol: :) 32/36 I think. Mines a Southern Comfort and Coke:) |
Plenty of Q's here... Gear selection could be a few things, first thing to check would be air in the lines maybe, or duff slave cylinder seal. Neutral light is more than likely going to be the switch, either faulty or needs adjusting, as I've never had your model of bike I can only guess it would be the same as the 916 variant, you should see two wires going into the back of the engine on the clutch side, that's the switch. Finally tyre pressures, well that's down to the rider, bike, tyres, weather and riding style more than anything |
If neutral is hard to select, try bleeding the clutch system - it's often down to air in the hydaulics which compressews and doesn't push the clutch out far enough to stop it dragging... ...and welcome on board - mines a Nastro if you're at the virtual bar!!! Giles |
Is it a wet clutch on those bikes? Tried changing the oil? |
Will try bleeding it through, thanks for the advice. |
