Help please

I have been told today that 600ss models were changed in 1994. Apparently mine is a pre-change model so the exhaust that I need is different from a post 1994 change model.

Does anyone know if a full exhust system of a 1995 bike will fit on my 1994 model?
I thought they only started making 600ss in 1994?

Its going to take me 5 weeks to get one if I order it through a shop but I can get a 1995 one in days.

Can anyone help with this info?

:puzzled: I thought they were all the same??!!
You and/or your dealer are not getting it confused with a Monster, are you?

I had a look in my Ducati history last night and the only thing I could find about the 600ss was that for a short while in 1996 (starting Oct 1995) they were produced with a stainless steel exhaust system.

Cant see how this would be phyiscally different though ???

good luck - Frank

Thanks.

I thought they were all the same too.
The dealer (in the NW) seemed pretty sure of what he was saying but I thought he was mistaken. As far as I know they started making the 600 in 1994. My workshop manual doesn't say anything about a pre-1994 bike.

He said the part numbers were different for an early 1994 bike and a late 1994 bike. Also the early downpipe is £49 and the later downpipe is £70.
He checked the reg number of my bike and phoned me back to confirm it was an early 1994 and therefore would need the early downpipe, but it would take 5 weeks to backorder.

I've managed to source a couple of full systems from 1995 bikes and I'm tempted to just buy them and risk this guy is mistaken.

Otherwise I've got a 5 week wait which could turn into months and a total bill of £180 just for the front downpipe and 2 into 1 collector.

What happened to your old exhaust - could it be repaired/rebuilt in anyway?

The collector box seems to be ok, it had a small crack on the join but welded no problem. The front downpipe just cracked right round, I took it to get welded but it was just like tissue paper and burnt through, the guy tried to build it up but by the time he'd done it there was so much weld inside the downpipe that the gas flow would have been terrible.

I can pay £49+vat then a tenner postage (£65+ in total) and wait 5 weeks for just the downpipe or buy a used full system for £80.
I just wanted to know the 1995 exhaust would fit.
