748 Swing arm spindle Hi everybody, I,m having a problem removing my swing arm spindle so I thought I'd register here and ask the experts. According to the Haynes manual you should undo the bolt from the right hand side and 'withdraw' the spindle from the left. No problem removing the bolt but the spindle is stuck solid, it will rotate with a 14mm allen key in the left hand end but it seems to be spinning the collars that locate the swing arm in the frame with it. I assume it's somehow rusted/ welded itself to these collars. I've supported the weight of the engine from below, bathed the spindle/ collars in WD40 put the bolt half way back in and given it a belt with the hammer but it's not moving. I dont want to hit it too hard and damage the threads but there doesn't seem to be another way to drift it out. Am I missing something??? any help would be appreciated. Thanks Kev |

Brute force method unfortunately didn't work, results were damage to the spindle, a 14mm deep socket, extension bar and the knuckles of my left hand but the damned thing is still stuck fast. It may have to be drilled out, any more tips before I take the black and decker to it? Thanks Kev |
