Immobiliser on my M620Sie... HELP Anybody got the info on how to sort out the immobiliser on my 2002 Monster 620 I have all 3 keys which includes the red master key and I also have the credit card size info card with the codes on. The bike has been standing for a while with no battery attached. When I connect a battery the immobiliser light starts flashing, then when I turn the ignition on it runs through all its checks then the immobiliser flashes several times quickly and then stays on. What do I have to do to get this sorted. U2u or email if this info is hush hush or call 07956 271131 Kev |
How many flashes do you get when the key is turned on? |
I get 3 quick flashes then 1 slow flash and then next tim it lights it stays lit. |
3 flashes indicates -key not valid Did everything come from the same bike? |
Handbook for my 620 sport says the following: if the code light stays on it means the code (key) has not been recognised. try with another black key. if this does not work contact the Ducati service network! But the book also gives a procedure to disable imobilizer engine block: 1. the credit card thing has two numbers on it; electronic code (which is what we need and is the left hand of the two numbers) and mechanical code. 2. turn the key on and fully open the throttle. keep it open. the warning light turns off after about 8 seconds. release the throttle as soon as the warning light turns off. 3. the light will start flashing. count the number of flashes corresponding to the first digit of the electronic code - open the throttle fully and hold it for two seconds, then release. the warning light should come on for about four seconds. 4. this has entered the first digit of the code. continue in the same way for the remaining digits. 5. if you mess up the light will flash 20 times then stay on. the procedure has been aborted so start again. 6. if you get it right the light will flash after accepting the last digit of the code and and then turn off after about four seconds. {sheesh and i thought tricking the tv in the car to stay on while driving was complicated!!} best of luck |
Yep everything from the same bike Ian I tried what that method but no matter how long I initially hold the throttle open for the light just stays lit. So no flashes to allow me to try the code Headlight etc all works just the immobiliser is doing its job. |
And you saw it all running etc on the original bike? |
No i didn't see it running. It's a crashed bike from a breakers I have no reason to doubt that all the bits are from this bike, the keys fit all locks, the clocks have no indication of being tampered with/swapped etc and neither does the ECU trying the other keys, with one of the black keys I get one flash after the checks and then next time the immobiliser lights it stays on, the other black key I get 2 flashes then a permanent light and with the Red key its the 3 rapid flashes then one longer flash and then next time it stays lit. Battery volts are above 12.2 volts at all times. :puzzled: :puzzled: :puzzled: :puzzled: :puzzled: :puzzled: :puzzled: :puzzled: |
Kev, i've just had this very same error with a 999R. The ECU turned out be be no good. Replaced it and all was well. The manual recoding didn't work either. There is a "button pressing" procedure that brings up an error code or codes. The R brought 2 up. One relating to the com link and another to a bad key I think. |
Cheers Neil Before I rush into anything like obtaining a new ECU I will check all the connections first. Then I will see if I can get Senna3 to plug it up to his Diagnostic computer, yes its meant for the Italian cars he deals with but it works on 749s and a lot of the later cars use the 5.9M ECU of which he has had to replace a few so obviously not the most robust unit around. |
