fairing removal Can anyone tell me If there is any specific technic in removing the right hand panel on my 916, I need to fit my optimate lead and have never done this before. First time nerves I guess, I dont want to break anything. Thanks in advance |
Under - neath the fairing there are two Dzuz fasteners. !/4 turn them clockwise and take out the fastenings. Put them to one side, then repeat the process undoing the Four fasteners along the top edge of the fairing side. Lower the front of the panel away from the top fairing to unhook the tab. Hey-presto, The complete side should now be free. Reverse to replace etc. Some models didn't have the Dzuz quick release faiiring fasteners, but screw type. You will find it a doddle. |
optimate You can fit the optimate without removing the fairing. I connect the positive crocodile clamp to the exposed terminal on the battery that you can see through the vent hole in the fairing. Then put the negative clamp onto the balance pipe mounting bracket that is just above the footrest. Separate the wires a little more so that it reaches between the two points and jobs done :sing: [Edited on 5-9-2005 by Mello-Yellow] |
And is there a tip for puttting the fairings back on (mines a 748 SPS) ? Have stripped mine off to fit carbon airtubes and undertank filter(as you do) and they are fighting me going back on! Can get the front top right Dzus fastner on but the bodywork warps out alarmingly when I try to put the second one in. Had to walk away today before frustration made me force it and break something. Any tips very welcome. Mike :rodent: |
Cancel that - have just realised there is a clip inside both panels to locate them! Now everythings back together and hunky-dory. Mike :rodent: |
