Modified full carbon 749s – what is it worth – serious answers only

May be looking at selling my 749’s, but, have no idea what it’s worth. I know that the market for modified bikes is limited but I have no feel for what I should ask for if I do decide to sell.

The bike was registered in June 2003 but has Ducati warranty up to Jan 2006 as the bike was not PDI'd and put on the road until late Jan 2004.

The bike was used by QB Carbon to develop their range of body work and as such was used by them as a show bike at the NEC bike show in 2003 and subsequently used by Ducati London South as their show bike at Ally Pally in Jan 2004.

All the body work is in carbon with the fairing and tank being race style items. Belt covers, clutch cover, heat shields, sprocket cover etc etc all in carbon. To buy all the carbon it would be around £3,000

The frame has been modified to include the additional frame rail which can be taken out for belt changes, all as per the factory WSB bike. The race can is styled on the factory WSB and sounds awesome.

The frame, wheels, headlight and upper fairing supports are all in Ducati red with the swing arm in gloss black. It currently has the 2005 Xerox decals, however, these are not lacquered and can be removed at any time.

The bike has had mentions in MCN, local Derby paper and is featured on a few web sites etc

It has covered 2,500 miles has a full Ducati service history. Just had a belt service at the end of Aug 2005 and the technician who test rode it said “what a great bike, you have a fast one there”.

So, is it worth £6 to £6,500 as a standard bike would be or does the history and mods increase the price …. Or worse decrease the price
:puzzled: :(

Don't wanna put a downer on things, bit I don't think a standard 2003 749 will fetch that much. :(

There's this one on eBay for £4.5k now...

As usual, and if you've got the standard parts, you're probably gonna be better off selling all the bling separately.

It's not an S model, has twice as many miles and it's yellow :D

But, understand what you say, just that the asking prices in MCN seems to be £6,500 to £6,900. and yes I understand that asking prices and actual sale prices are different.

Oops, missed some of the finer details there

Mine's a bog standard 53 plate Bip, I wish it was worth £6.5k! It seems the market for used bikes is floundering that the moment, perhaps there is an excess of stock, both old and new. Ducati's, especially, seem to be having a hard time.

As some of you know I just bought a 749S reg April 2005 ( 2004 Model) for £6100 and had only done 540 miles. It is a buyers market
