Nurburgring Stastistics

Anybody know the yearly death statistics for the Nurburgring?

I know that sounds morbid but it's a notoriously dangerous track and just wondering how what the statistics are.

Main reason is I'm currently having a debate over the dangers of the TT course and people going on the usual banter about it should be banned etc.

I said that the Nurburgring is also a very dangerous track and that's not banned.

Thanks

Ben Lovejoy has a fantastic Ring website with all sorts of info on it. Might be some stats on there.

I do know that Ring casualties who are still alive when ambulanced off the circuit but later die in hospital, do not count as a Ring death. So whatever the stats are, it's really worse than that.

That said, it's a fanatstic experience to ride there, although I haven't been since 2001.

Been to the ring loads of times. Discussed this many times. I don't think the real figures could be released ,otherwise there would be an instant uprising against the place and it would have to close to the public.

We all know it is risky but so is commuting to work every day on a bike. The place is as safe as you choose to make it. The main problem is people who have done a few track day's in cars or on bikes and roll up thinking they know everything. I know this because I did! The Ring is a special place and should be treated with the upmost respect, that way you can learn the lines and become a much better rider for it.

I am out there again this weekend, its the only way to ride your bike i.e. a Ducati as it should be ridden. Peopel die falling off ladders, crossing the road, leaving clubs even going on holiday do people advocate banning all these options too?

I'm with Mav, love the 'Ring, ride it like a fast road you don't know and you will be fine-try to ride it like a racetrack and you are likely to have a short shelf life.
