Costs of Desmo Due I was reading about budgets and costs per mile on another post but can't find it now. I still have the speedo connected on my bike I will need to keep an eye on the mileage so I can get the servicing done to keep my warranty valid. Anyway total mileage so far 1017 the first 500 were done on the road to run it in. The means with the racing to date and the few track days 517 track miles which cost £15.00 each:o that does not include the cost of getting too and from meetings or fuel used on track. Be interesting to see how that compares to other budgets. Still next year I should have nothing much to buy just race entry and odds and sods. |
The total budget is a different story - but as far as track miles goes this year on the DD bike, (racing and trackdays) I've covered around 1300 miles. Tim |
track miles for me about 700 i recon |

Having just done the sums in my head I can definitely say this is not a useful exercise, and results in cold sweats, heart palpitations, and an urgent desire to take up a cheaper hobby, like yacht racing or moon exploration..... |
I worked out a budget the other day based on starting completely from scratch (inc. clothing tools etc.) and prepping a £2000 bike, and buying/insuring/taxing a £1000 van. You're looking at approx £12,000 for you first season (If you start with nothing) Now that IS terrifying for a 6 round race series on a cheapish bike. Needless to say, I don't work it out that often - just about manage to find the pennies each time ;) ...just!! |
Bike £1700 Prepping it (minimal labour costs thanks to JamColy and a bit of DIY) including, dynojet, airfilter, rearsets, pair Pirelli Diablo's, spare levers, 14t sprocket, new chain + 15/45 sprockets, lockwiring etc £600. Licensing "me", club membership, 2-piece leathers conversion to 1-piece etc £300. Van-hire approx £160 each weekend (incl fuel) whether it's for a race or to get the bike somewhere. (now I know I want to do it more I'll try to buy a van over the winter) Race entries approx £100 each weekend + bike fuel (£30 at Snett!). So for my first years racing I'll have spent about £4500 and I'll have a bike ready to start next season with, and that's a BUDGET entry! There are those that have done it cheap through already having some/lots of the gear, there are those that have done it cheap through swapping favours for things like dyno time. There are loads more that have spent loads more!! |
