oil leak
 

Traced oil leak back up to the clutch slave cylinder. The oil is coming from were the push rod for the clutch runs through the engine and then fits into the slave cylinder. Is there a seal behind it that could be faulty or is it something a bit more serious. Had to change the rod a few weeks ago as the old one had snapped, Wondering if that has something to do with it as it could have been running out of true and worn a hole in the casing.

There are two liitle o rings on the pushrod itself which can fail. Are you sure its oil and not clutch fluid or chain lube?

i'm postive it's oil and not clutch fluid. Have fitted a new rod in last two weeks and washed down all around that area on tuesday night with pro wash,left slave cylinder off over night and a trace was there again last night, coming from around the rod inside the engine.

Did you change the o rings?

new rod came with o-rings already fitted.

Hmmm, odd one. Maybe one of them got nipped as the rod was pushed in.

Just because the rod is new does not mean that the o rings are undamaged

True,will take it out and re-check them, They did look ok when i had a look at them. Have got a new spare one so might fit that just to see if it still does it.

Shove a bit of grease on them before you do it. might make them slide in a bit better.

New rod fitted last night, greased before fitting so slid in nice and easy.

Will have to wait and see now
