Wet trackday question....

Lets say you do a trackday and on the day it's pouring down, torrential rain, to the point where the clerk of the course closes the circuit for an hour or two (even though an hour of this was used for lunch)

Now lets just say you turn up without wets, or wets on wheels, and there is no tyre facility at said circuit

Finally lets say because of the weather the TDO decides to run two groups in the afternoon rather than 3 to maximise the available track time (also because 40 people have either crashed or packed up because of the rain

You do a total of 8 laps because of the above on the day, would you say this warrants a refund from the TDO?

Just playing devil's advocate here, it wasn't me, in fact I didn't even get my bike out of the van because of the weather, but that's the chance I took with tyres etc.

The TDO doesn't control the weather so I personally thinks it's unfair for an individual to make such demands because they failed to take part in such activities without the correct equipment for the conditions

Rattler 12-Sep-2005 18:00

Assuming that he could have done all of the replanned sessions if he had wets, he's not intitled to refund.

If the TDO can make the track available for a reasonable amount of time whether wet or not and you chose not to go out (whether you'ev got wets or not) - tough.

Ditto rattler

Totally agree with the above comments. This is England and it rains. Going to a track day when you're only equipped for a dry day is pretty stupid.

JPM 12-Sep-2005 18:10

Guys you're confirming my thoughts on the matter, as we've all found out there's no guarantee with the weather in the UK, and this individual did get out on track, and it was wet from the first session right until the end, no dry line all day.

Lily 12-Sep-2005 18:14

ok, i will add an extra thought....

what if you had wets but there was no tyre facility to swap and put them on?

my view - tough, you should have checked before hand?

shut it... i did read and digest, but others seemed to have missed it in saying that these people were not prepared for wet weather.

I think that some were prepared as in they had wets but not WOW!!

NBs996 12-Sep-2005 18:22

If you're taking loose tyres then surely you'll need to check facilities first.

electricsheep 12-Sep-2005 18:24

i know that 100% offers weather insurance, but that only kicks in if the circuit is closed, not if you decide not to ride (it also costs £10 I think)

That would seem to imply that even if the curcuit was closed all day because of the weather, you would not get ant refund
