Low flying garden spade.
 

After having new tires fitted to the bike, I thought a good run upto an old mates over 600 km would help get them scrubbed in nicely, however it was not my intention to return home in the dark as I hate night riding, having never ridden my 999R in the dark before the first thing that got a bit of getting used to was the main beam reflecting back up the inside of the screen (not sure I like that)

Anyway to cut a long story short, coming round a corner on a dark stretch of road I notice a car and trailer pulled over to right and a person in the road, as I don't like riding in the dark I was taking it reasonably slowly, all of a sudden there were shapes lying strewn across the road in front of me, by the time I had swerved past two of them my brain took in the fact that I was in a gardening shop slalom course :(

One rake and a watering can later the spade laying diagonally across my path was not going to be missed catching it on the blade it flipped up and nearly decapitating me glanced off my helmet, pulling over relieved to still be in one piece I went over to confront the guy who was busy throwing his tools back into his trailer, picking up his spade he said to me, " thank god its not damaged, its new" not once did he ask if my bike or myself were ok. as I was tired and still had over 50 km to go to get home and was lost for words I simply got back on the bike and continued at a more sedate pace home confused as to how a spade held more importance than the possible decapitation of a bike rider.

:o:o:o:o:o Bloudy hell bro, just be a bit more carefull next time, you could have put the guy on the dole que by knackering his spade:lol:

Seriously, I can not believe he did not ask if you got hurt or if it had damaged your bike:mad:, some people have no thoughts for others, what ever country you are in.

Happy that you are ok & that no damage to the bike, what about your helmet???.

I take it this happened in Denmark. If it was the UK the guy would have picked the spade up and finished the job off. Then loaded the bike up and pis'*d off :lol:

It has happened before, I remember reading about a bloke who was fed up with bikers riding through the village he lived in, He lost his rag on one occasion and took a spade to on of the passing bikers.

Think it was in the mcn a couple of years ago

Yep happend in Denmark, after having had time to think about it today and what the conciquences might have been i actualy started shaking for a few mins, i was just so gob smacked that all he was concerned about was his spade that i could not find words to reply to him. I think that had i not been so shaken at the time he would have needed a new spade to dig his other one out with :)

Looking at my helmet today ( Arai RX-7 ) there is actualy a scrape and a crack in the left hand side air channel :(

Wish now i had got his details so i could send him a bill

arrhhh Hindsight ;) Have you checked your bike. Amazed if there are no scratches on that. Mind that isn't a cheep helmet you have there:cool:
