MV F4 SPR ? Anyone got experiences of MV F4's ? Saw an SPR in the bike shop at Matlock this week and it looks very nice and very tempting.... but would mean part ex of the duke. To be honest I dont think I've got the balls to get rid of the duke and I've not got the cash for both. My 749 puts a smile on my face everytime I ride it and I've never had that sort of feeling from any of my previous bikes. So would have to be something good to swap to. Rich. |
That's the 750cc one ain't it ???? Save your cash mate and buy the 1000cc |
Yep - if you're going MV, 1000 is the kiddy. The price of the 750s, even the SPR has fallen hard as a result of the 1k. Better still, keep the Duke. Tim |
Assuming thats you in the avatar (you look tall?!)..have a ride on one first..your 749 will seem like an armchair in comparison. Other than that...nice bikes..the 1000 is a missile..750 (even SPR) just too peaky for most people..(especially if your used to a twin) Nat |
I rode the 2005 1000 and definetly has more ponies than my 999..but..or you like it or you hate it... I am riding dirt bikes and it was like to be on my CRF in certain position.. wheelies are easy with just power and is stable like on the rails..but the position..I am not convinced. My friend - the owner - is taller than me and coming from japs is telling me the same impression.. you definetly have to try one before make your mind... ..get a 999... |
Tricky .... is this matlock motorcycles ???????? If so just check it out fully. I know some time ago they picked up an accident damaged MV and repaired it to go through their show room. Not saying this is the same bike, but, always worth while getting it hpi'd. Also not saying they are trying to pass it off without letting you know the full history, I've had a lot of dealings with Matlock Motorcyles and they are a bunch of good guys. Jon (race cans) had a 750 MV when I had my 748. Being honest they were both equally matched on performance and handling. [Edited on 15-9-2005 by Carbon749] |
Tricky...Although I don't have any experience of MV's,I think it needs to be remembered that owning an Italian bike is more than just about outright performance (well it is to me at least!).The SPR is a beautiful bike by any standards, and will still be something very special in years to come.Sure,if you performance test one back to back against the 1000cc MV,then I'm certain that there will be a difference.,but you could never call the 750 slow.Anyway, isn't it nice to have something a bit different. As lovely as Ducatis are (and I never want to have to sell mine!),they are a fairly common sight on a sunny sunday blast.I think you'd be pretty unlucky if you saw another SPR pull up next to you at the lights :o. Just my thoughts........ |
If you want an MV go with the 1000cc. I also have an F4 1000 and love it to death :D I had an accident back in November last year and a few moths ago i decided to put my MV up again. The bike got ready this last weekend and i went for a ride. WOW!!! I love the handling and power of the MV  Yeah, it has a more radical and racy position than the Duc, but to be honest i like that. Also if you're the tall guy like in you avatar, you won't have a problem with the higher riding positon of the MV |
