suspension set up ,,please help im getting a lot of dive on the front end when i brake hard .on my gixxer you could adjust it on the bottom of the fork leg. were do you do it on the 999 |
Sounds like more compression damping is required? Someone who knows something about suspension might be able to confirm or deny that? What model is it? As in, are they the ohlins forks? |
It will be in your owners manual I assume BTW. |
If it's the Showa forks then there is a hole up under the bottom of the fork leg to poke a screwdriver in. Not sure where on Ohlins it would be. |
cheers HW |
quick spin up to k-tec daz? 5 mins from mine. |
The technique for checking the front forks is to put a tiewrap around one leg and push it up against the oil seal. Then go for a ride and when you stop you will hopefully not have the tie wrap right at the bottom. If it is right on the bottom of the leg then you have run out of suspension and need to sort the preload (big adjuster nut at the top). The RATE of dive is controlled by the compression though, which will be on the bottom somewhere. |
I think Psychlist knows someone good on setting up suspensions, why not ask him? I think he's helped a few people before... :) |
You need to go back to basics, 1. set the sag front and rear 2. g test 3.measure the travel 4.damping |
if it's like my 1 good luck, I think it's the spring, Ive tryed the rebound,it helps but the forks go down in the end, I think I need a more progressive sping but I will try to adjust it for a bit longer befor I pay out for some springs |
