Byrne/Camel...what do you expect, whats exceptable etc??

Don't know about you lot, but I'm really looking forward to seeing how Shane gets on this weekend (and next) given a chance on a Honda.

It reminds me of a few years back when Sean Emmett was riding for Harris in GP 500, and after giving 100% race after race on an uncompetitive bike, he was suddenly out of the blue given a ride on the Lucky Strike Suzuki after Shwantz crashed and broke his arm. From battling at the tail end to battling for a podium! It was great stuff to read about (he wrote for fast bikes at the time) and had me transfixed week after week.

So what do we thnk is going to happen to Byrne? Its already been said its a bit of a double edge sword...will he struggle like Bayliss at two tracks he doesn't know that well, or will he pull the ride of the century out of the bag and grab some serious points and subsequent exposure n the process?

Just interested...:frog:

its a double edged sword alright.

but if you want to prove yourself you have to take the chance. theres no point in banging on about not having a competitive ride and then not rising to the challenge.

i really hope he proves how good a rider he is. being realistic if he can get a top 10 finish this weekend i would say that would be a result.

best of luck to him.

make or break imho.

I too am looking forward to this weeks GP because of this :D I think Shaky's going to go for it big style. If he doesn't crash he's going to be in the points. :sing: My only worry is that he gives the bike to much respect and bottles-out a bit. But then again, Naaah:smug:

finish both races, second race in the top 10 would be a good result. in a perfect world he would finish better than the other riders that they are sticking on the bike

He needs to finish top 12 in both I reckon.

He's opened his mouth already earlier this year about being quicker than some people on factory bikes so he needs to back it up now.

Hes got the talent and hes is a bit cocky like Sheene was. Not afraid of bashing fairings either if you recall when him and Rutter were in the same team.

Would hope top 10 in both races but as a betting man: Race 1 8th, Race 2 5th.:o Heres hoping anyway.

He's done nothing since he won BSB. Discuss!!

Crunchy 22-Sep-2005 14:41

As he claims he hasn't had the decent rides:( This is his chance:biaggi:

All he really has to do is prove that he's able to ride a better bike than the KR thing - if he scores 2 points on Sunday he'll be 300% better off than he was riding the orange peril...

Twinfan 22-Sep-2005 15:30

I reckon top 10 is a result for him in the first race. He'll need to be better than that in the second to impress the Honda guys.

Unfortunately, however well he does it looks like Vermuelen will get the bike after he's done and I would expect Chris to be Honda's main interest. Shakey is just keeping the seat warm for him.
