Leaking exhausts

Morning everyone, as the sun is shining today you are probably all out riding some lovely Ducatis!

Anyway to my question -

Just fitted a set of Micron Carbon cans and have a few leaks to the left hand link pipe where it meets the orginal Ducati down pipe.

Is it ok to use a jointing paste as you would with a car exhausts system??

Thanks

Nick

Best thing is silicone sealant ..... stays flexible even with the heat of the exhaust system.

I've used normal exhaust sealant. Seems to be fine. Be careful not to get too much of it on the outside of the pipe - it looks awful when it dries. It can also make getting the pipe off later a bit of a struggle!

see what you mean about the exhaust sealant

well it has done the job but now it's had a blast around an got really hot the sealant has all come out and now needs cleaning off!

Nicks. Shazzam recommended Permatex Ultra Copper RTV Hi-Temp Silicone sealant. This looks like the type of thing for the job if you are using silicone.

I had the same problem with standard pipes and the termi asymetric muffler on my 749s. I used standard exhaust joint sealant and the problem is now solved.
