Ohlins spring kit? Following on from all the suspension/set up posts, has anyone bought new springs for Ohlins forks and shocks.I see there is a fork kit in the DP catalogue.Anyone priced these up? Basically I need some stiffer springs as the standard 999S Ohlins are way too soft for me.(I did eat all the pies!)I'm quite happy to fit them myself,so where can I buy some springs,...and how much? (Too lazy to do internet search!) |
Harris are the importers of Ohlins |
Here ya go http://www.harris-performance.com/ |
are you sure it's stronger springs you want, as I think I have the same problem with my 999s 04, it's fine when I seat on it but under hard braking it dives and uses up all the suspension travel, more progressive springs will stop this and keep the ride height right, not stronger, but I'm new to ducatis so any one with more experience and have fixed this is better than me. I understand the basics but havn't fix it. ps I ant no light weight :flame::burn::burn: |
Phone K-tech http://www.k-tech.uk.com/ Dam helpfull people ,they have revavled my 998 forks & are ever so good to work witch which makes a change :D They even talked me out of spending money with them :o:D |
Hmmm,...Ohlins springs £70 from Harris,...and just about everywhere else as well.On that score the DP kit should be around £280. I fancy the DP kit as you get four sets of springs,so you can experiment. Did someone post a link to an Ohlins guide?I seem to remember a table for riders weights v.spring values. |
I used the spring guide and went for a lighter spring (68) , then ended uo going back to std , if you really want to play with springs and feel the different set ups then no prob , but if your looking for a good set up then phone the experts , i have chased my a*e around for a year before phoning k-tech and within days had a better set up than before Good luck either way ,send me yer email addy i have the chart somewhere:D |
I usually go for a 0.9kg/mm fork spring and I always use single rate Ohlins and if you get them from Harris at a bike show you will usually get a bit of discount. As you say Keith you have eaten most of the pies so you may need 0.95kg/mm or 1.0kg/mm springs. |
Cheeky bast...:frog: Interesting... The DP kit springs are listed at 9/10/10.5 and 11 N/mm. Standard is 9.8. I'm nearly at the end of my preload adjustment but the forks are nearly bottoming out.The old cable tie is just about at the bottom of the legs.(Lots of bumpy back roads and humpback bridges. ) |
The stock springs are about right for me at 66 kg and with a small amount of preload. At first i'd have said they were too firm as i didn't use all the travel but after a lot of messing about and a major change in how i ride ( i hang off and forward now and load front more) I'm using all the travel. |
