Whats a \"Z\" spec motor Been told of the wherabouts of a 996Z bike. Thats right, a Z not an S. Never heard of such a thing, but it sounds like a pre "stretta" deep sump motor. Anybody shed anymore light on this? :puzzled::puzzled: |
Not sure, but there was a different spec for the American market, this could be the reason. Other than that not a clue, nothing in any of my Duk books. |
Don't really know, but my Foggy rep's engine number has a Z as one of it's prefix letters, could that have anything to do with it? ie,SPS motors have a Z in their numbers & non- SPS motors don't?? |

Without looking, I think all Ducati road motors are prefixed ZAR***** Sounds a real oddball, and the fact nobody on the board has come up with anything tends to indicate either I have my facts wrong, or he does. You know anything about this Felix? [Edited on 21-10-2005 by yeti] |
Try e-mailing DUK Yeti - they might be able to shed some light. |

Good thought. will do just that |
Yeti bit of a long shot here, but the Z in the frame numbers denotes the bike is of Italian manufacture. presumeably the same for engine numbers and therefore means whoever is selling this knows nowt about what they are talking about. Can't remember if there is a Z in the engine number. |
John, i've never heard of a Z spec????? The Z does denote Italian origins and is present in all the frame and engine numbers, regardless of model............. |
