Huge misfire on my 996

Lads & Lasses,

My 996 BP (with 50mm Ti Termis) has develope a huge misfire between 3700RPM and 4000RPM which is most evident if when cruising at a steady 3500RPM if you open her right up she stutters really badly until the 4000RPM mark at which point she takes off like a scalded cat ....

I know it is something I can ride around but am I causing more damage ....

Advice please sought as I have Rockingham booked for the 20th and wont be attending if I'm likely to damage the bike .....

Thanks in advance ...

Have you changed or done anything to the bike since this started? My buddy had a 996 that did the same thing and it turned out to be a fueling issue that was resolved by going to a single injector/FIM222 chip conversion. The bike was transformed to an amazing level.

Crap petrol?
Had some in my 998,very lumpy running below 4k rpm and lots of popping and banging from the exhaust.Bloody thing even cut out on me as I coasted through a village. One fresh tank of descent petrol later,........problem solved.

Might be worth spening a few quid on a diagnostic check?
Should tell you all that is wrong with it except that you need to lose some weight matey:lol:
How close to Nelly are you, he found my problem was a dodgy chip which was replaced by the manufacturer and never a problem since, except being over weight myself:devil:
Hope you get it sorted by the 20th but if you need a substitute I am sure there will be a few volunteers - behind me mind :sing:
Good luck and I mean it for once:frog:

I think its a weight issue!!!!

I think it could be a sensitivity to excess donut consumption mate:lol::lol::lol:.

Contrary to popular belief, donuts must not be used as exhaust baffles!

ummmmmm...........

could be that your arse cheeks are hanging over the back of the bike and blocking of one of the exhaust pipes ....causing a back pressure:lol:

Fuel?

Just had JHP 54mm fitted to my 996s. Did Mallory Park Tuesday and filled with Shell Optimax bike behaved fine until after lunch when i nicked my mates fuel from Safeway no less, bike then ran like a pig spluttering with massive hesitation. Very noticable and very alarming soon topped up with shell for late afternoon and all was back to normal....?
