chain oiler has anyone fitted a scott oiler to a 749/999 if so 2 questions 1) is it any good? 2) was it easy to fit? i'm sick of chain waxing and was seeking an alternative cheers mark |
Email the guys at Scottoiler and they will send you detailed instructions so you can judge for yourself. They are brilliant to deal with. G |
I have a Scottoiler on my 999S, fitted by the dealer (as I'm a numpty). It's not the large touring version reservoir, just the little one, strapped to the frame - you can just see it through the vent in the side panel, next to your knee when sitting on the bike, where the two fasteners are. It looks a straightforward proposition to fit (for non-numpties) and it keeps the chain in damned good nick, but leads to filthy back wheel syndrome. I recommend it. [Edited on 3-11-2005 by Loz] |
hi Loz could you take a pic?? id like to see where youve got it mounted |
Nathan, I will do that thing for you and post as soon as I can, hopefully this weekend. |
cheers Loz..... ;) |
Scott oiler..............what a messy dirty contraption! For the effort lubing your chain taked on the stand why bother? |
Scott oiler = Sam Brown Belt and beards :lol: Be a real biker and oil your chain while it's on the stand  |

Sorry to disappoint you Nige, but Scottoiler = almost twice the mileage on a chain than your recommended action, usually cos most people can't be bothered to do it as often as needed, like every time you use the bike ;) Oh yes, I may have the beard but I use a full flourescent jacket, not a Sam Browne belt :P |
where is the oil applied ie front or rear sprocket, I spoke to them at the show but they were a bit vague about the set up mark |
