Being fleeced on OE parts! (non Ducati too) I've just ordered a replacement brake line for my old mtx125 trail bike prior to my son driving it on the road next year when he reaches 17. A single line cost me £76,I was speechless!!:mad: A whole set of braided lines including clutch for my ss cost less than this, and this ones just rubber too. The bike is 15 years old so doesn't feature in any of the big suppliers catalogues, and ,its got a screw in fitting at the top which prevented me from getting a local dealer from making a line up for me. I feel it may have been cheaper to just replace the master cylinder and hose with a more modern one,but its done now. Anyone else been stung by a simple part? |
Yes! but you do get a nice vacuum sealed plastic bag with the part-no on!!! |
Other way round for me. Snaped alu machined spacer in front faring on 749. Expected a fortune and was going to make one. £3.75 inc vat. Bargain. |
Find a local hydraulics company who does them, I pay a few quid each for mine, place in Chesterfield. While you wait. |
Ah good old honda inflated parts prices. you got away quite light there (not as light as my wallet though) Needed a new fuel tap for the RC30, normal price £95+vat ouch, sadly no stock so forced down the HRC route, easy enough to find (no wonder) £155 + vat. differences are the box it came in and thats about it. Seat unit - £1466+ vat, carb overhaul kits (included just about everything you need) £109 - Per carb !!!! x 4 Some parts are suprisingly cheap for it though but sadly i dont need those |
