Noise at rear wheel

Recently started getting a 'clunk' or 'crack' noise at the rear wheel on pulling away, just about the time I've finished with the clutch.

Any ideas?

Im no expert as plenty will tell you.

Cush Drive Bushes or Wheel bearing

Guy C 10-Nov-2005 19:32

Any way to check without pulling the whole lot to bits!?

nelly 10-Nov-2005 19:43

Wheel bearings aren't that common a fault.
Cush drives - see if you can rotate the rear sprocket for and aft. There should be none, or very ittle play.
The other possibility could be the rear wheel is loose?? Remove the safety clip and check the rear nut is tight.

If you don't have any luck, I'm only up the road in Kirkby. You're welcome to nip over and I'll check it for you.

If you recently removed the rear wheel check that you refitted the wheel onto the guide pins

Also check the chain
