Hi Hi, new to the forum. The site was recommended by a member on a GB forum and after reading through the posts I decided to join! Well, the site was recommended to me as I was discussing which first bike to get. I really like the 600sport judging by looks and reviews but I hardly know anything about the bike. Would really appriciate a pieace of mind. Thank you :) |
Muz, there are a few SS owners on here but being the weekend it gets a tad quiet, give yhem a few days and they'll answer your questions... Welcome by the way ... |
Hi Muz, 620 sport is a fine, fine bike, and a huge improvement on the 600. The enging appears to be very realiable (it's not exactly over-powered!), and the handling is the same stable but manouverable style that the SSs have always had. I bought a solver on in good nick for £3k about two months ago. Now in less good nick but will be returned to its former glory! Good luck, and ask away if you have any specific questions. Ali |
Thnaks ali. The 620 looks like a good bike, heard nothing but good things about it. Considering it will be my first bike, I was thinking on a 600 mainly for the purpouse of gaining bike sense. How is it when it comes to a "first" bike? Plus i dont want to be spending more than £1500-£1700 on my first bike. Considering, insurance, reliability, rideability...etc |
I'd go for monster 600 at that price. The SSs aren't the most beginner friendly bikes (especially the turning circle), and they're carrying a bit of a premium on price at mo thanks to the DSC race series. You'll generally get a very tidy 600 for that sort of money. There's a yr2000 monster dark on autotrader at the moment for £1950. I'm sure he'd take £1700, and it'd make a great first bike. If you want to stick with an SS then just find the cleanest, best maintained example. There are some nightmares out there, but there's lots of good experience in the club to help you out should you end up buying one! Cheers, ali |
